Rebecca Enifer
Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSRebecca joined the Moloney team shortly after graduating in 2019, and has been our clinical director since June 2024. She enjoys all aspects of her work, especially soft tissue surgery. She spent time in India neutering street dogs with the Worldwide Veterinary Service while at university, and currently volunteers for StreetVet providing care to pets of people experiencing homelessness. Rebecca is currently working towards advanced practitioner status in small animal surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, skiing, travelling and reading historical fiction, as well as taking care of her own rescue dog and hens.

Jerry Moloney
Clinical Director and Founding Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSOriginally from Ireland, Jerry comes from a farming background and developed a strong interest in animal care from an early age. He has many years of experience as a veterinary surgeon, and has been providing great veterinary care to our region since the 1980s. He established our Great Dunmow practice in 1992 and Takeley in 2013. He loves all aspects of his job, has 3 border collies and takes a keen interest in training and competing working sheepdogs.

Denise Moloney
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSDenise was born in New York City, but from the age of five grew up on a dairy farm in Athy, Country Kildare, Ireland, she has always had a keen interest in small and farm animals. Denise graduated from University College Dublin in 1986, before gaining experience at mixed practices in Wigan, Manchester and London. She joined our practice (run by her brother, Jerry) in 1989, Denise is mum to three grown up children, and has three border terrier dogs.

Sophie Cantwell
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSSophie joined our team after graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2022, and previously spent time volunteering in Spain at a charity veterinary clinic. She loves the rewarding nature of her work, and has a particular interest in ultrasound, surgery and feline care. In her own time, she enjoys taking care of her own cats and dogs, as well as playing netball for a local team and socialising with friends.

Hermien Craven
Veterinary Surgeon
BSc MRCVSHermien worked in nature conservation in her native South Africa at the Joshua Baboon Rehabilitation Project, CapeNature and at a primate rehabilitation centre in Nigeria after graduating from the University of Cape Town in 2006. She then graduated from the Royal Vet College in 2016. She has many pets of her own, including a cat, a dog, a rabbit, hens and fish, and enjoys spending her free time with her children, gardening and tucking in to chocolate digestive biscuits.

Kerry Dawson
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSKerry grew up on a small holding and started her career at Moloney Vets as a kennel assistant, before going on to graduate from the Royal Veterinary College in 2001. She has a keen interest in ophthalmology, an area which she holds an RCVS certificate in, and provides peripatetic second opinion ophthalmology clinics at our practice and to other practices in the area. She has two children, a dog, quails, chickens and a few thousand bees, and enjoys spending her spare time outdoors and working towards qualifying as an open water swimming coach.

Emma Dobson
Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse
RVNEmma grew up on a farm and began her career at a mixed practice before qualifying as a registered veterinary nurse in 2000. Emma joined our team in 2015 and is now predominantly based at our Takeley branch overseeing the day to day running of the clinic. Emma enjoys all aspects of nursing especially anaesthesia and nurse consults.
Outside of work Emma enjoys socialising with friends, helping on the farm, riding and competing with her horses

Holly Enver
Senior Veterinary Nurse
RVN Cert VN ECCHolly joined us in 2002, when she started work as a kennel assistant and receptionist. She then went on to study and qualify as a registered veterinary nurse in 2013, since then she has developed a keen interest in critical care, and spent time in an emergency setting while working on her advanced certificate in emergency and critical care. Holly enjoys being a mum to her young daughter and spending time with her family including her rescue dog Gwen.

Zoe Irons
Veterinary Nurse
RVNZoe holds a level two animal care qualification, and initially joined us as a kennel assistant in 2014, before moving to our reception team. She has since completed her veterinary nurse training. Zoe has a particular interest in orthopaedic surgery and assisting in emergency situations. She has one dog, and one cat who she hand-reared. In her free time Zoe enjoys exercising, walking her dog and meeting up with friends.

Ellie Richardson
Veterinary Nurse
RVNAfter joining us as a kennel assistant in 2014, Ellie began her veterinary nursing training and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2022. Having always wanted to work with animals, she enjoys getting to see our patients improve and recover with treatment and has developed a passion for nursing our exotic patients. Ellie has two dogs, two cats and one tortoise of her own at home.

Lucy Auld
Veterinary Nurse
RVNLucy has always wanted to be a veterinary nurse, and completed work experience with our practice while she was at school! She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2008, and has volunteered for charities such as the RSPCA, Street Vet, British Hen Welfare Trust and Cats Protection. Outside of work, she is a busy mum and has many pets including a dog, guinea pigs and chickens.

Laura Kiddy
Veterinary Nurse
RVNLaura joined us as a veterinary nursing assistant in 2014, and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse four years later. Before becoming a mum Laura spent time volunteering for the RSPCA, her clinical passions include emergency surgery and anaesthesia. Outside of work, she has two sons, two dogs and a horse, and enjoys spending time outdoors with the family, horse riding, travelling, skiing, running and swimming.

Gemma Laidler
Student Veterinary Nurse
Gemma was a longstanding client of ours before joining the Moloney team in 2021, and has always been interested in veterinary care. She is studying veterinary nursing at Writtle College, and enjoys taking care of inpatients and meeting new people and pets. She has four dogs of her own, alongside 6 sheep, chickens, a tortoise and 2 ponies. She enjoys horse riding and cooking.

Sophie Ramos
Animal Nursing Assistant
Sophie originally joined Moloney Vets in 2021 as a receptionist and insurance administrator. During this time she completed her bronze award and competent dispenser certificate with the British Veterinary receptionist association.
Since then she has decided that a career in veterinary nursing is where her heart lies, so started training as a veterinary care assistant at the beginning of 2024.

Jo Abbott
Receptionist
Jo had never worked in a veterinary practice before joining the Moloney team in 2019, and now loves getting to work alongside great people and pets every day. She finds her varied role very interesting, and regularly attends our team “lunch and learn” courses. Outside of work, she likes to relax by doing pilates and yoga, reading, walking and travelling.

Gill Heap
Receptionist
After many years of being a Moloney Vets client, Gill is now enjoying life on the other side of our front desk. She joined us in 2012 and nothing makes her happier than getting to see our patients return home after making a full recovery. An experienced pet owner, she has two dogs and birds, chickens and fish at home. Her hobbies include dog grooming and dog sitting, as well as crafts and interior design.

Elaine Dowton
Receptionist
A lifelong animal lover, Elaine has been with us since 2019, and loves getting to catch up with our clients and their pets. She has two dogs called Paddy and Murphy, as well as two feline friends called Saskia and Beau. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, entertaining and packing her suitcase for trips to visit family in Crete.

Carralyn Matthews
Receptionist
Carralyn joined our team in 2023 and having previously worked in a hospital, she brought lots of experience in helping and comforting people with her, as well as her passion for animals. When she’s not behind our reception desk, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking care of her dogs, Poppy, Tucker, Nellie, Daisy, and cat, Bambi.

Hannah
Receptionist
Hannah has been with our practice since 2024, and loves working alongside our fantastic team and greeting our clients and their lovely pets. She lives with her husband, children and dogs, who take up most of her spare time, and enjoys going for walks in the countryside, cooking, baking, camping and watching live music.

Clare
Insurance Coordinator
Clare first joined us as a receptionist in 2004, and after a few years away she returned to our team in 2023. When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her family, practising floristry (which she is qualified in) and interior design and holidaying in North Norfolk. She also has a dog called Eva Berry, who she likes to train and enter into obedience and agility competitions.

Charlotte Reain
Practice Manager and Veterinary Nurse
RVNCharlotte has a degree in equine breeding and stud management, and has been with us since 2008. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2013, and has a keen interest in emergency and critical care and radiology. She also previously spent time observing work at the oncology department of the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket. When she’s not taking care of patients or coordinating the day-to-day running of our practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and horses, as well as running, walking, skiing and travelling.

Becky Wheatley
Head Veterinary Nurse
RVNTaking care of her own pets as a child inspired Becky to pursue a career in the veterinary profession. Prior to joining us she started her career as a veterinary receptionist and then qualified as a veterinary care assistant. Becky joined us in 2015 to complete her veterinary nurse training and has since developed a passion for laboratory work and intensive care. Becky’s hard work and dedication led to her becoming head nurse in October 2023. In her free time she loves nothing more than walking her own dog Fig, and catching up with friends.

Bev Emmet
Deputy Practice Manager
Bev returned to the Moloney Vets family in 2023 after a short time away, having previously worked as part of our reception team for eight years. She easily stepped back into her role, and loves getting to greet our lovely clients and their pets. In her free time, she enjoys going on holiday, walking her dog, cooking and gardening.
